Coming at you via electronic mail, it’s The Handle, True’s new, occasional newsletter.

This newsletter isn’t here to sell you anything (although if you’re buying, we won’t say no). It’s a casual roundup of work, happenings, musings, and things we love.

You’re already on the list because you’re a friend of True. We hope you'll stick around, but you can unsubscribe below if you wish.

Don’t worry, we aren’t going to swamp your inbox; The Handle will only be sent when there are some interesting things to share.

In this issue
Work Work Work, Showing off our design showreel and Inspo Rando with design lead Helen.

Our new Qantas spot takes off. 🛫

Following up their successful 2024 brand campaign (8% increase of Kiwis flying Qantas to Australia, but who’s bragging) is another true story of trans-Tasman connection. Shout out to Liv and the team at Supernormal for producing an ad with authenticity and heart. Check it out

The siz-siz-siz-sizzling design showreel 🌶️

Inspo from our design lead, Helen Chapman

  • Anything fired out into the world by Mother Design is brilliant, but this latest drop, with its rebellious anti-minimalism, had me fizzing.
  • And speaking of Mother, our new neighbourhood eatery of the same name is serving up marble, caffeine, and temptation in equal measure. We’ll queue for that coffee (and the salted caramel pecan) any day.
  • Taking a look through this year’s Best Awards and couldn't help being impressed by Ben Forster’s thoughtful and beautifully presented work in the student category.
  • Am getting buzzed seeing the extended content beginning to build out for our fave merino client Longform
  • Escaping from the day-to-day, and soaking up the rich feast of images from Visual Gluttony.
  • Am enthralled by the intricate detailing and artistic vision of Mecca Bourke St especially the stunning selection of works by female artists that adorn the walls
  • And finally, something that brings three of my favourite things together (illustration, packaging design and wine) this gorgeous range, designed by Studio Eduardo Aires for Esporão, and a winner at this year’s D&AD awards, has me dreaming of summer picnics by the beach. https://www.dandad.org/work/d-ad-awards-archive/fio-da-navalha

The True Tilt

Our philosophy is to create work that’s first Undeniably True, then Truly Undeniable. That’s represented by the True Tilt, the little moment when a piece of work makes you go “oo-ah”. If you visit our office, you’ll probably spot some of our slick new screensavers, designed by Oska Gosling. Look:
